About this Project

In 2010, a pipeline burst into a creek creating one of the largest releases (nearly 1 million gallons) in the history of the midwest. Not only were there challenges containing and cleaning up the leaked oil, but the spill also brought considerable concern for the safety of native wildlife inhabiting the region.

Our team provided emergency response support services along the river to aid in the oil cleanup. We provided a wide range of services including GPS surveys to document the location of emergency response activities, documenting the location and quantity of response equipment, documenting the location of portable well and surface water sample locations, assisting with documenting areas impacted by emergency response activities, providing survey support to photorectify aerial photographs collected along a 40 mile segment of the river, assisting with locating potential pipeline dig sites, deploying and maintaining wildlife deterrent measures, dredging activity oversight, and assisting field teams with Shoreline Cleanup Assessment Technique (SCAT) work.
